The Story Behind Hands Passing Peach Blossoms

One of the most personal works in Elements of the Garden is a piece titled Hands Passing Peach Blossoms.

The inspiration for the gestures in this photograph came from Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam. I’ve always been drawn to the emotion and tension held within that small space between two hands. The sense of connection contained in such a simple gesture.

I wanted to reinterpret that feeling through a softer, more intimate lens using peach blossoms gathered during spring.

What many people may not realize is that both hands in the image are actually my own. To create the final photograph, I photographed multiple images separately and carefully layered them together to create the illusion of two different people passing the blossoms between one another.

The process was slow and intentional, almost like building a painting piece by piece. I was interested in creating something that felt timeless and symbolic while still remaining personal.

This image is part of the collection, Elements of the Garden, which is available here.
